He hasn’t been the same ever since Jaejoong’s accident. Doesn’t do much appart from mope around his office in the day and drown himself with soju in the night.
Yunho tries to talk some sense into him, tell him that it really isn’t his fault, that there was nothing anyone could have done to prevent it from happening. He tries to comfort him, at least Jaejoong isn’t dead, he’s just in a coma, he’ll be fine, he’s just sleeping.
Changmin responds by pointing to the door of his office. After Yunho leaves-with an empathetic smile on his face-he loosens his tie and flings it across the room.
It’s been close to three months now, and it drives him insane that he still can’t get Jaejoong out of his mind.
He tries not to think about him, tries not to remember how he always smells like fabric softener, tries not to recall the silkiness of his hair, or the way it feels when he leans in to whisper something into his ear, or how he would slyly try to link their fingers together under the table-
He sighs and gazes out the window, squinting slightly under the glare of the sun. He wants to go and see him. Supposedly people in a coma can still hear whats happening around them. He’s read about it before in magazines and those articles on the internet that are supposed to help people cope with accidents that happened to those close to them, relatives, friends, lovers…
His train of thought breaks momentarily. Who was Jaejoong to him? And most importantly, who was he to Jaejoong? There hadn’t been any silly declarations of love, even though Jaejoong had always been the one more comfortable with their relationship, or whatever it was they had. They were far from being a couple, but even further from being friends, because friends don’t curl up together on the couch and friends most definitely don’t steal kisses under the still of the night. Changmin finds himself fighting to resist the urge to burst into his hospital room and kneel down on the floor infront of him, forgo his “big boy CEO” image and release all the pent up frustration, confusion and untold words that he’d kept in since the day they first met-but tell him what?
Because God forbid that he actually loved him.
